Pre-Academy (formerly UVU Jrs) is an elevated program for players in the U7 and U8 age group. It is a step above the regular recreation program. The program helps develop advanced players who want to move on to competition play when they reach the U9 age group.
This program is for U7 and U8 players who are advanced in their age groups. These players are often identified as the ones who dominate the field during their games.
It is beneficial to get these players to a higher level of play so they can be challenged and continue to progress.
Tryouts are held in late May. The coaches will select players to join the program based on criteria such as passing, shooting, ball control, coachability, aggression, and other criteria set by the coaches.
Tryouts for the Pre-Academy program will be held in May on the Wednesday and Thursday prior to Memorial Day.
Registration for tryouts will open at the beginning of May and will be available on our website.
Tryouts are held at the Lakeside Sports Complex. Players will need to check in at the pavilion.
We will have 6-7 players on a team
The players will have 1 weekly training session throughout the summer and 2 weekly training sessions per week during the season (Mid Aug - Oct, and Mid March - May).
We need the players and their parents to be committed and to show up for trainings and games.
Yes. We will still need volunteer coaches for each team to facilitate the games and trainings under the direction of the Director of Coaching.
If you are interested in coaching, please reach out to coachjrs@oremyouthsoccer.com prior to the tryouts.
Stuart Clarke, the Director of Coaching for Orem Youth Soccer, will provide the curriculum and oversee the training. He will train both players and coaches together. The coaches will execute the training under his direction.
Not necessarily. Coaches will need to be comfortable with advancing with the players. We will be looking for qualified, dedicated coaches to move up with these players as they advance into the U9 competition program.
